Small Volume parenterals
Small Volume parentrals (SVP) are usually 100ml and less. These drugs are normally manufactured in aseptic conditions having class 100 clean room processing and packaging area. These products are sensitive to heat hence sterile filtration is the need and manufacturers are using sterile filters at synthesis and filling process to assure sterility of the product.

Large Volume Parenterals
LVP (Large Volume parentrals) are usually available in size not less than 100ml, their normal product size ranges from 250ml to 5000ml and their normally administered through intra venous route. Dextrose, Sugar Solutions, amino acids, Electrolyte solutions are some examples of LVPs. LVPs are manufacturer in huge quantity and required robust filters to maintain high quality and meet regulatory standards. Combination of Pre Filters and Final Filters are used in LVP as these are normally viscous products with multiple filling line.
